Indoor sound object
I designed an indoor chime with weather-driven variation and manual controls for sound level and timing.
Weather and manual input
Weather data changes the sound automatically, while tactile controls let listeners adjust its pace and volume.
Wind-to-sound mapping
Stronger wind increases chime activity; calmer weather reduces it. Changes in Parameter-mapping sonificationThis means choosing a relationship between data and sound—for example, stronger wind producing a busier chime pattern. The design decision is which changes will be easy to hear and feel meaningful, rather than turning every number into a separate sound.Further readingKantan, Dahl & Spaich — Audio Mixing and Parameter Mapping Sonification, ICAD 2024 make the weather relationship audible.

Three knobs adjust volume, the base interval between sounds, and the amount of variation.
The compact enclosure has rear suction cups for mounting on suitable windows or vertical surfaces.
